8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
Control Parameters
May be regarded as nuisance dusts
Recommended to follow the National Occupational Exposure Standard (NEW) ASCC
general guide to keep all occupational exposure to dust and other atmospheric
contaminants to as low a level as is workably practicable.
Biological Limits
No biological limits allocated
Engineering Controls Work practices should minimize the release of, and exposure to, fibers and/or dust.
Avoid Inhalation, use in well ventilated areas
If sanding, drilling or cutting use appropriate extraction ventilation
Ventilation
During most applications no special ventilation required
If in a very dusty work environment or a confined working space then local exhaust
ventilation should be provided if the dust level exceeds 2 mg/m3 TWA{4} of
inspirable non-hazardous nuisance dust
When heated to 200°C for the first time, release of binder components and binder
decomposition products can occur which, in high concentrations, may irritate the
eyes and respiratory system. There are no recorded incidents of respiratory
sensitization from released gases
PPE
ye protection - Use dust resistant goggles conforming to AZ/NZ 1336 when sanding,
drilling, or cutting
Skin Protection - Loose comfortable clothing should be worn
Avoid direct contact with skin by wearing long sleeve shirts, long trousers, caps and
standard duty gloves conforming to AS 2161.
Respiratory Protection - Class P1, P2 or N95 (Particulate) respirator are appropriate
when sanding, drilling, or cutting
Personal Hygiene – Washing facilities should be available on site to wash the skin
and to treat any dust in the eyes
Smoking – It’s highly recommended that all storage and work areas are deemed
non-smoking zones
